The World Intellectual Property Organization (\u201cWIPO\u201d<\/b>) has issued a notice dated 14 October 2022 informing that the 12th<\/sup> Edition of the Nice Classification will enter into force on 1 January 2023.<\/p>\n

A number of changes have been made to the goods and services classified under the 12th<\/sup>\u00a0Edition of the Nice Classification which will be applied by the International Bureau of WIPO to:-<\/p>\n

a) any application for international registration that is received by the Office of origin on or after 1 January 2023;<\/p>\n

b) any application for international registration that is received by the International Bureau of WIPO on or after 1 January 2023, when the said application is received by the International Bureau of WIPO after the two-month time limit referred to in Article 3(4) of the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks.<\/p>\n

As has been the standing practice, the International Bureau of WIPO will not be reclassifying goods \/ services in international registrations with a filing date earlier than 1 January 2023.<\/p>\n
