Kee Sern graduated with a LL.B (Hons.) from the University of London in 1998 and obtained his Certificate of Legal Practice in the following year. He then commenced his pupillage in Shook Lin & Bok and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 17.11.2000.
Kee Sern was retained as an Associate of Shook Lin & Bok and was subsequently admitted as a Partner of the firm in January 2008. Prior to practice, he was a law lecturer at Advance Tertiary College on the subjects of jurisprudence, commercial law and private international law or conflict of laws.
His main area of practice is Banking & Finance Litigation and he is highly experienced in the fields of corporate recovery and insolvency, including realization of charged assets, receivership and scheme of arrangement. He is a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Malaysia and is frequently called upon to advise and act for leading financial institutions, trust corporations and statutory bodies (including Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia).
Apart from this, Kee Sern’s general litigation portfolio includes representing clients in cases involving defamation, breach of contract, forfeiture of property, breach of trust and various types of land, corporate and commercial disputes.
Kee Sern also conducts training workshops and speaks regularly at seminars. He is one of the trainers of the Bank Negara Malaysia Banking Supervision Course 2016 and he spoke recently at the International Malaysia Law Conference 2016 and Bar Council Outreach Programme – Critical Components of Company Law: The Road Ahead.
