Belt & Road Initiative: Dialogue on Arbitration in Beijing

Our partner, Mr Sudharsanan Thillainathan presented on the topic of “Confidentiality v. Transparency (Tensions Within International Arbitration?)” at the international forum entitled “The Belt and Road Initiative: will it change arbitration and ADR?” held on the 9 September 2016 at the V-Continent Beijing Wuzhou Hotel, Beijing. The forum was organised by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia Branch) in collaboration with the China Academy of Arbitration Law.

The high profile forum discussed the significance of the Belt & Road Initiative to the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) community worldwide. Officiating guests for the forum include Vice President of the Supreme People’s Court, Madam Justice He Rong, the party secretary of the China Law Society, Mr Chen Ji Ping, Mr Wesley Wong SC, Solicitor General of the HSAR and the President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Global, Datuk Sundra Rajoo in addition to the presence of leaders from respective Ministries of Law, the Law Office of the State Councils and representatives from embassies of countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Proceedings of the forum is expected to be submitted to various national leaders as a point of reference.
