Talk on ‘Can Media and Law Co-Exist?’

In conjunction with the World Press Freedom Day on 3 May 2017, the Bar Council CPD Board and Malaysiakini will be jointly hosting an event themed “Can Media and Law Co-Exist?” to provide a platform for the 4th estate – the press and citizen journalists as well as the public at large, to understand how Malaysian law regulates a key right enshrined in the Federal Constitution, i.e. the freedom of expression.

Mr Sudharsanan Thillainathan will be speaking at the event on the topic of “How the Evidence Act 1950 Impacts on Journalistic Freedom”, providing attendees with insights on the protection of journalistic sources and the safeguard of journalistic rights under the Evidence Act 1950, amongst others.
