Here’s what you need to know.
What is it?
It is an expedited process to recover payment for construction work or services rendered as provided for under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (“CIPAA”). CIPAA applies to construction work or services contract defined under CIPAA and entered into on or after 15.4.2014. The dispute is decided by an adjudicator whose decision may be legally enforced.

What is the fine print?
- Applies only to written construction work or services contracts defined under CIPAA
- Deposit payable at the outset towards the fees of the adjudicator and AIAC (but may be recoverable against the losing party)
- Adjudication decision of temporary finality
- May be subject to further steps to obtain recovery
